December 12, 2024Sand City Charter Update: Winterized but Still Full Steam Ahead!
The boat may be winterized, but here at Sand City Charter, we never truly slow down. While the engines rest for the off-season, we’re keeping busy with Bay Rats & Buoys . Our weekly podcast is making waves in the fishing community! If you haven’t tuned in yet, you’re missing out on epic stories from 2024. Tune in for fishing tips, and advice to keep you prepared year-round.
Preparation is key, whether it’s on the water or in the off-season. With our boat tucked in for winter, it’s time to focus on getting all of our gear dialed in for Spring 2025. Success in fishing starts long before the lines hit the water. During the off-season is the perfect time to make sure everything is ready to go.
Here’s what we’re working on to stay ahead:
• Hook Replacement: It’s easy to forget how much wear and tear hooks go through. We’re swapping out any dull or rusted hooks so that when a trophy fish bites, we’re ready.
• Lure Maintenance: From repainting mojo heads to re-rigging umbrella rigs, we’re making sure every piece of gear is in top-notch condition. Each detail counts, and the better our lures look and swim, the more fish we’ll catch.
• Re-tie and Re-rig: We’re busy tying fresh leaders and rigs for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, albies, tautog and fluke so that everything is set for 2025. Preparing now means more time fishing and less time fumbling with tackle on the boat next season.
The off-season is also a great time to reflect on what worked (and what didn’t) in the past year. With the lessons learned in 2024, we’re refining our setups and experimenting with new ideas to make 2025 even better.
When April 15, 2025, rolls around and we launch our first charter, we’ll be ready to hit the water running—and catching. Until then, we’re making every moment count, on and off the boat.
