June 25, 2025Bay Rats and Buoys – Episode 35: The Rain Blitz of 2025!
This week’s episode was straight out of Jurassic Park — and we’re not kidding. The striped bass bite in our area has been absolutely insane, with monster bass exploding out of the water, crushing live bait all week long! On every charter, Captain Gaige and Kory put anglers on big, hard-fighting fish ranging from 36 inches all the way up to 45 inches. We’ve been working multiple techniques to stay on the bite, including flutter spoons, mini mojos, NLBN lures, topwater plugs, and trolling rigs — and it’s been paying off big time.
The highlight of the week? What we’re officially calling The Rain Blitz of 2025! Despite the downpours on the Long Island Sound, the bass were blowing up bait schools all around us while we stayed dry (mostly) in our foul weather gear. This is exactly why you never cancel a trip because of a little rain — sometimes the nastiest weather delivers the hottest action!
Special shoutout to Matt and Joe from Mt. Sinai — great meeting you guys on the boat this week, and thanks for being loyal podcast listeners!
Because of the non-stop charter action, this week’s podcast hit the air a little later than usual — but trust us, it was worth the wait. If you want to experience this incredible striped bass bite for yourself, visit SandCityCharter.com to book your trip. And don’t forget — our First Annual Striped Bass Invitational is next Sunday, June 22, 2025. There’s still time to register your boat and be part of this epic conservation-driven tournament.
