Weekly Fishing Report: Post-Storm Success and Exciting New Ventures
After the summer storms cleared out, we hit the water on Sunday morning at first light, and the fishing was phenomenal—especially for August. Birds were working, and bass and blues were blowing up everywhere. The topwater action was nonstop, making it a blast on light tackle.
We had local anglers Dennis and his son, Captain Zach, out with us for an elusive striped bass hunt. Captain Zach landed his first striped bass ever—a 37-inch beauty weighing in at 22 pounds and estimated to be around 11 years old. It was an impressive catch and, being an over-slot-sized fish, was safely released back into the waters.
The fishing in our area is excellent right now as we gear up for some first light and nighttime chunking trips targeting bass and blues.
